Our Scrapbook About the Open House
at PIGS, a Sanctuary 5/24/97

Mary Ann & Katie
Jude Eggleston posted on PigPals that PIGS, a Sanctuary was going to have an Open House. We decided to hop in Mary Ann's little Suzuki and visit. After our five hour ride to West Virginia, we really wanted to get out of the Suzuki and stretch our legs. Here Katie (our daughter) and Mary Ann seem to be going in different directions.

One of the neatest things is to finally meet folks that you talk (well, write to) to on the internet. We finally met up with Jude and was able to take a picture of her during her busy day at the Open House. After this shot, she was off, helping out to make things at the Open House run smoothly.

Keebler photo

This is Keebler who was the unofficial greeter at the Open House. He's not a potbellied pig, but a Kunekune donated to the sanctuary by Katie Rigby. Everyone wanted to pet him, and I'm sure he got more than his fair share of snacks that day.

Pork Chop
The other "big hit" at the Sanctuary was this really neat piggy house. It is home of Pork Chop, an abused pig, whose back legs are not functioning since his back was broken by his previous owner. Pork Chop is seen sitting here, hoping for another passer by to give him a (another) treat. He was well fed on this day, too.

Maui Pix

This is Maui, a pig from Hawaii. He (she? I don't recall) shared the pen with a Yucatan pig. They are hairless pigs from Mexico. Unfortunately that picture didn't come out.
