Our Scrapbook About
Getting Fang & Bonita 6/27/97

When Lana Hollenback (SW FL PBP Club) mentioned that Fang was part warthog,
it really piqued our curiosity . No he's not really part warthog.
She e-mailed us a photo and we said that we really wanted that pig!!!
Included with her photos was a picture on Bonita. She's about 6 months old
and reddish in color. She's not a potbellied pig either. Perhaps a ferral pig
(aka wild boar) or a Juliani. We wanted to give her a home, too. At first Lana worked
out a transportaion project with someone who could get them half way to us. We
purchased carriers from Jeffers Vetinary Supply & had them dropped shipped
to Lana. Later John Harris & Cid Magnus said they'd drive and meet them
near the North Carolina border in Virginia. Unfortunately the carriers didn't fit
assembled in their car. So the carriers rode in the trunk, as the pigs
traveled in style in the back seat!

John with Fang
We met at a rest area along the highway and got a few stares from travelers in the rest area. Here's Fang being carried by John Harris as Cid Magnus looks on. Fang wasn't too pleased about leaving his cozy seat in their Saturn

Bonita leaves the Saturn, too Here's John with Bonita as he gets her into the now assembled carrier. Both of these pigs were wonderful, holding their "potty" in the car for the 15 hour ride. We had put straw in the carriers for them. John said that straw was a luxury, since it cost about $8.00 per bale. Anyone in the Florida area care to donate some straw or hay to the SW FL PBP Club? Just email John. This club could really us the donation.

Cid and John

Cid & John offer Fang some Gatorade & treats and say their good-byes to their traveling companions. Funny how it's always hard to say goood bye to the pigs.

The Virginia Connection crew
We grabbed a passing by trucker to take a "group shot" of us crazy pig folks. Left to right are Mary Ann, Cid, John, and Marty. About 5 minutes after that picture we were back on the road again for our six and half hour ride back to New Jersey.

Back at Pigtailz Junction
Six and a half hours later Fang and Bonita are introduced to the lush surroundings at Pigtailz Junction. They also found a new experience: grass!!! Fang was kept by a breeder in a concrete area. Once rescued, he was housed in pen that didn't have grass either. Here is Mary Ann giving Bonita a snack before dinner.
